During the week of April 12, ESRL was lucky enough to host several programs featuring children's author Jennifer Holm!
Jennifer Holm, along with her brother Matthew, is the creator of the New York Times bestselling Babymouse graphic novel series. The siblings also write the Squish series.
On her own, Holm has written several award-winning middle grade novels, including Newbery Honor recipients Turtle in Paradise, Penny From Heaven, and Our Only May Amelia. Her most recent novel, The Fourteenth Goldfish, is a Maryland Black-Eyed Susan Award Nominee.
Holm spoke to groups of third, fourth, and fifth graders at schools and libraries throughout the Eastern Shore, reaching a total of over 1800 people. Her lively presentations invited audience participation through reader's theater, drawing contests, and question and answer sessions.
"It was spectacular," said Natalie Lane, children's librarian at Kent County Public Library. "Jenni was wonderful with the kids, and we're so grateful to have these opportunities for the schools."
